the sky is the limit

As a child most are privileged
To have influential parents,
Something she lacked growing
Up it's absence she couldn't
Understand it

Never once encouraged to
Become the best in which
She can be, mistreated by
Both parents thoughts of
Her life a worthless one
That assumption made
easily

Her father a drunk his
Abuse not only consisting
Of influential drugs, when
Intoxicated his habit
broadened her mother
Endured a great amount
Of that love

Not once has his hands
Been an accomplice
To his daughters pain,
But his fury is often
Felt her mother strikes
Her in his name

Bruises to her face and body
addTo her dreadful appearance,
Her attire wounded and stitched
Aiding her desire of a public disappearance

Taunted by other kids
Those who appear most
Fortunate, made to feel
Her birth itself was a great
Misstatement

An unforgettable childhood
Memories in which she
Tried to shake, such horrid
Thoughts act as a plague
Chaining her to that state

Now an adult her past
Still barricades her From
future success, an obstacle
Most would agree has played
A major part in her living
Depressed

The sky is the limit we
All can be what we choose
To be, constantly put down
Shes tamed to believe her sky
Lys Beneath her feet
the sky is the limit
